Famous and full-bodied expression of Sangiovese from Tuscany, Fontodi's Chianti Classico is an intense and elegant wine, aged in old barriques for 24 months. Allows aromas of violets, leather and tobacco to emerge in the glass. The sip reveals body, spice, clarity and precision. Organic wine
Fontodi is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico, in the valley that opens south of the town of Panzano called "Conca d'oro": a "terroir" renowned for centuries for its vocation for quality viticulture due to the unique combination of high altitude , marly soils, great brightness and a fantastic microclimate, warm, dry and with a wide temperature range.
Respecting the winemaking tradition of the Chianti Classico area, Fontodi has chosen to devote himself to the enhancement of Sangiovese, trying to express the purest characteristics of this historic Tuscan vine, practicing highly sustainable forms of agriculture. Certified organic for all of its 70 hectares of vineyards, Fontodi is inspired by principles of absolute naturalness, reducing any form of external input and making the most of the company's internal resources.
Similarly, the vinification and aging processes in wood take place in the modern cellar arranged on descending levels, in order to operate by gravity with an approach that is as respectful as possible of the natural integrity of the grapes.
Specifically, the Chianti Classico of Fontodi naturally ferments with indigenous yeasts with long macerations, to then be entrusted to a slow aging in Allier and Troncais barriques. The most typical hints of Sangiovese emerge in the glass, highlighting Fontodi's great ability to support a spontaneous and genuine development of the wines produced, interpreting the rich viticultural complexity of Chianti Classico.
